GUIDE FOR AUTHORS

General

Thank you for considering Galla - the scientific journal of the KISSR - as a possible platform for the dissemination of your research results. This guide will assist you in preparing your manuscript for Galla while making sure that the publication process goes as smoothly as possible.

Aims and scope: Galla is an open journal that publishes peer-reviewed scientific papers (original research articles, review articles, and letters) that deal with all areas of science and technology or engineering. Submissions that are intended to receive an academic award that significantly impact on specific areas are also encouraged.

Manuscript format and structure: Please read this section carefully to avoid violating the submission process. Submissions that are appropriately prepared with minimal errors and conform to the format and style are likely to ensure efficient communication and quick publication:

    • The File Type:  Prepare your manuscript in a single file containing the manuscript text, figures and/or tables. Galla only accepts Microsoft Word (MS Word) type of file format.
    • Style: Double-spaced, typewritten in 11-point Calibri with 1-inch margins on all four sides. Consecutive line numbers must be given in the manuscript.
  • Section headings must be in bold type and on a separate line.
  • Subheadings/subsections should have a short heading, be printed in italics and be on a separate line. Authors are advised to keep subsections to a minimum. Please number the headings and subheadings accordingly, e.g.
  • Heading
  • 1 Subheading
  • 1.1 Sub Subheading.
    • Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear and understandable English and in the correct format. Authors whose native language is not English are strongly advised to have their manuscript proofread or checked by an English-speaking colleague before submission.
  • Length: The preferred length for manuscripts can vary depending on the type of paper, as listed in the length Policy.
    • Title: Please write in a concise and informative sentence structure.
    • Author names, Affiliations and ORCID: All accredited author names must be spelled correctly and appear as a published author name on a single line.
    • Corresponding author: The corresponding author must be clearly indicated with an asterisk (*) in front of the author's name. Enter only the e-mail address of the corresponding author, after the address of the member organizations.

The manuscript structure should include:

Abstract - Summary of the manuscript that includes the specific aims of no more than 350 words, a brief description of the method, the main results and the conclusions in a single paragraph. No references should be cited in the abstract. Unusual or unfamiliar abbreviations should be avoided but, if necessary, must be defined when first mentioned in the abstract itself.

Keywords - A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 words that identify the essence of the research paper. Separate each keyword with a comma (,) on one line.

Introduction - A brief literature review and previous relevant work with references. Clearly state the aims of the research paper in the last paragraph.

Materials and Methods - Accurate methods should be described to ensure reproducibility. Published or known methods should be correctly cited and if there are any changes, these should be noted.

Results - Clear and concise. Presenting results with tables and figures can improve clarity. Avoid repetition of results in written form and in the form of tables and figures.

Discussion - Explains the significance, implications and consequences of the results. Results and discussion can be combined or separated.

Conclusion - It is not obligatory. However, if the discussion is too long, authors are advised to formulate a conclusion that summarizes the interpretation of the results and contains recommendations. Avoid repetition of the points mentioned in the previous sections.

Conflict of interest - Disclose any potential conflict of interest appropriately.

Acknowledgements - In a single paragraph and kept to a minimum, acknowledge all sources of funding or other contributors to the work.

Declaration of generative AI in the scientific writing process - The use of AI or AI-assisted technologies should be declared.

References - It is the author's duty to ensure that all cited references are listed completely and correctly without losing the information required by the journal. Please ensure that all references cited in the text are also included in the reference list (and vice versa). The referencing style and citation should follow the Harvard referencing system.

Tables

The tables are to be listed on separate pages of the manuscript after the reference section. The tables must be numbered consecutively according to their occurrence in the text.

Figures

Figures should be presented on separate pages of the manuscript after the reference section. Figures should be numbered consecutively according to their occurrence in the text. Scanned or digital photos should have a high resolution of at least 300. Each figure should be accompanied by a caption at the bottom of the figure, followed by the figure notes.
