The Galla Editorial and Publishing Process Policies
Gall Journal of Kurdistan Institution for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research, aims to maintain high standards in the field of scientific publication. It welcomes original research articles, reviews, and research elements from various disciplines, with a focus on knowledge advancement, societal impact, and practical implications. The journal conducts a thorough peer review process that ensures confidentiality and impartiality.
Focus and Scope
The Galla Journal is a prestigious journal dedicated to publishing original research articles, review articles, and letters to the editor. It covers a wide range of disciplines in natural science and engineering. The journal aims to advance scientific understanding by publishing influential papers. It follows a double-blind peer-review process, ensuring rigorous evaluation by experts.
Plagiarism Policy
Galla uses tools to recognize plagiarism. Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as your own. The Galla Journal Editorial Board will evaluate each case of plagiarism on its own merits. If plagiarism is detected at any stage prior to publication, including after acceptance, during editing, or at the page correction stage, the author will be notified. The author will be asked either to rewrite the text or to cite the text exactly and indicate the original source. If it is found that at least 15 % of the original contribution is plagiarised, Galla Journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript.
Length Policy
Galla provides guidelines for the expected length of submitted manuscripts, including regular research papers and reviews. The guidelines include the abstract and references, but not the figure captions or the content of the tables. The guidelines for length are as follows:

Publication Frequency
The Galla Journal is published biannually, with accepted papers published online before print. The journal has two issues, one for January-June and the other for July-December. It is an Open Access Journal and published articles can be downloaded freely without admission barriers.
Ethics Policy
Galla Journal upholds the highest ethical standards in research, ensuring the integrity and reliability of scholarly work. Key principles include informed consent, privacy and confidentiality, special considerations for vulnerable populations, data integrity, disclosure of potential conflicts of interest, and ethical review.
This process involves evaluation by at least two independent, expert peer reviewers, following the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The selection of peer reviewers is based on factors such as expertise, reputation, recommendations, and absence of conflicts of interest. The journal values the diverse expertise of its peer reviewers and encourages their valuable feedback to maintain the highest standards of academic excellence and integrity.
Peer Review Policy
The peer review process may be conducted using different models, including open, transparent, or anonymized peer review, depending on the journal's specific policies. The identities of reviewers and authors are kept confidential throughout the review process. Editors are responsible for securing a minimum of two peer reviewers for manuscripts reporting primary research or secondary analysis of primary research. In exceptional circumstances, editors may make a decision based on one peer review report, ensuring it meets the required standards.
Open Access Policy
Galla is dedicated to the principle of open access, recognizing that making research freely available to the public fosters a global exchange of knowledge.
Galla Journal encourages authors to deposit all versions of their paper, including preprints, accepted manuscripts, and published articles, in institutional or subject repositories. The institution expects authors to seize opportunities to make their research results available for free access in their final peer-reviewed papers. Authors can utilize the open access route available at [email protected] or galla.kissr.edu.iq for publishing and archiving their accepted papers.
Archiving Policy
Galla Journal prioritizes the long-term preservation of scholarly content through an archiving policy that utilizes the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems. LOCKSS is an open-source software developed at Stanford University Library, which enables participating libraries to create a distributed archiving system by regularly polling registered journal websites for newly published content and archiving it.
Galla journal is digitally preserved in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which deposits content using the LOCKSS Program. By adhering to this policy, Galla Journal contributes to the wider dissemination of scholarly work and facilitates global access to research findings.
Repository Policy
Galla Journal is committed to supporting open-access initiatives and ensuring the accessibility and preservation of scholarly research. The management office is responsible for depositing all published material in an institutional or subject-based repository, aiming to enhance the visibility and long-term availability of research outputs. Galla journal collaborates with (( Jisc Sherpa Services)) to align its policy with best practices. This policy contributes to the wider dissemination of scholarly work and promotes collaboration among researchers worldwide.
